Ray and I are so thrilled to be able to announce this fabulous event. We have been working behind the scenes with the gorgeous Chris and His team an the Brunswick Picture House team to bring you Alive and Kicking plus Swing On In (live)

SATURDAY 4TH OF NOVEMBER 7PM

Swing dancing is more diverse and dynamic than ever and this exciting doco gives us an insider’s look into the culture of the joy-fueled, gravity-defying swing dance world… and in true Picture House style, our next Film Event will feature live performances by the amazing Swing On In dance troupe!
About the film

ALIVE & KICKING is a feature-length documentary that takes an inside look into the culture of swing dancing and the characters who make it special. We explore the culture surrounding Swing dance from the emergence of the Lindy Hop to the modern day international phenomenon.
The film follows the growth of Swing dance from its purely American roots as an art form, to countries all over the world.

ALIVE & KICKING looks at the lives of the Swing dancers themselves to find their personal stories and why this dance fills them with joy.

About the Brunswick Picture House:

After laying dormant for over 30 years, the curtains lifted on this old theatre in March 2016 and it began a new lease on life, lovingly restored by the creative team behind the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed circus/cabaret sensations “La Soirée” and “Club Swizzle.”

Having survived the wreckers’ ball and the ravages of time, this iconic building’s revival has set the stage for a vibrant and charismatic mix of film, circus, cabaret, music and family-friendly entertainment.

It is our desire to establish the Brunswick Picture House as a local landmark for the community, for people to meet, be inspired, gossip, laugh and be entertained. Dedicated to putting the fun back into going to a show or the cinema, the Brunswick Picture House has re-emerged — reimagined and better than ever.
