**Canberräng 1-4 August 2019** Canberra’s festival of swing and one of Australia’s longest running and best-loved swing dance exchanges. In 2019 join us from 1-4 August as we celebrate the greatest hits of swing.
With ten events powered by incredible live bands and Australia’s top swing DJs, *Canberräng: The Greatest Hits* is set to be an epic compilation paying tribute to the iconic music, moments and people that have shaped swing dance through the years.
Featuring headline acts Professor Cunningham & His Old School (direct from NYC) and the sublime jazz vocalist Hetty Kate, don’t miss what is sure to be four unforgettable days of social dancing!

**SWING JAM SESSIONS @ GROUND N SOUND:**
WHEN: Thursday 11 July 6.30pm – Shop 6/23 Musgrave Ave, Chirn Park.

Now the place to be at on Thursdays each fortnight!! Join us Thursday 11 July and then every 2 weeks after that from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.. this organic Swing Jam Session is open to jazz & swing musicians, open mic singers and Swing DJ’s wanting to play to the dancers, entertain the public and just enjoy the free space to explore and create.

We are hoping this night expands and grows organically, the guys at Ground N Sound are super supportive and with polished concrete floor, music memorabilia and vintage furniture this place has such speak easy character we just want to go and hang out there!

Open to all and completely FREE..

The Team behind this initiative would be Ground N Sound, Richard, our fabulous French Swing Dancer, Sue Watson in charge of Musician engagement and us at SWING On In who invite you all to come along and lets see where this goes!

**CELEBRATING THE LANDING ON THE MOON**
WHEN: Friday 19th July from 5.30pm at Queensland Museum

This After Dark, join us and celebrate the historic moon landing. Step back in time to the 1960’s, an era of competitive space exploration dubbed the ‘space race.’ On Monday 21 July 1969 at 12.56pm, Eastern Standard Time, Queenslanders were among the estimated 600 million people watching the Apollo 11 moon landing television broadcast across the world.

Back on Earth, miniskirts, mini mokes, and Beatle’s music mania were all the rage. Dress up in your favourite bell-bottoms, go-go boots, or mod prints and learn how to dance Rock n Roll, or the Jitterbug with SWING ON IN.
Get ‘glammed up’ for a quick 60’s hairdo and maybe a lick of lippy at our pamper station courtesy of THE LINDY CHARM SCHOOL

Plus, sit back in our interactive 1960’s Queensland lounge room in the Café Muse to experience the excitement of watching the moon landing – the most iconic TV event of all time. Whether you turn on the radio, spin the world globe, or choose a vinyl record to play, this 1960’s experience is a great photo opportunity! Styling and furniture is courtesy of the Camp Hill Antique Centre.

Explore all the Museum has to offer including NASA – A Human Adventure. Listen to live music, roving astronauts, droid racing, and science demonstrations and displays.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase on Level 2. As this is an 18+, adults-only event please leave underage Space Cadets and children at home. ID will be requested on entry and to purchase alcohol.

**The Most EPIC Fashion Show for the Diamond Jubilee – HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOLD COAST**
WHEN: Saturday 13th July from 3pm – Broadwater Parklands Main Stage.

From Buddy Holly to Sid vicious and everything in between! and Yes there is an appearance from Richard Simmonds!! I can honestly say I have not been this excited about putting together a fashion show ever as I have been for this one.. It is going to be EPIC! There are 27 fabulous cast and crew from SWING On In involved in putting together a most stupendously fabulous show of music, fashion and dance! Come along and watch the show, you are sure to be dazzled! – **Don’t be late! It’s only 15 mins and if you miss it, you will KICK yourself!** It is also being filmed and credits for all cast will be noted.

***We will be on at 3.30pm as lead in to the headline act. Get front and centre! It’s going to be a hoot!***
Celebrate GC – Diamond Jubilee Birthday
Hip, hip, hooray…it’s our birthday! 60 never looked so good.

We’re celebrating our Diamond Jubilee birthday the best way we know how, with an amazing line-up of all-Gold Coast artists, delicious food and of course fireworks. Join in the celebrations Saturday 13 July at Broadwater Parklands, Southport.

The all-Gold Coast stellar music line-up has been announced and will feature multi-award winner Amy Shark, supported by The Lamplights, Eliza & The Delusionals and the Hanlon Brothers.

Our birthday celebration is free and everyone is invited!

Get the gang together for a free night of fun on Saturday 13 July at Broadwater Parklands, kicking off from 3pm to 7pm.

Don’t worry about remembering where you parked, get on board and ride the G. Live local? Get active and walk, ride, scoot or skate.
